My taxidermist buddy said my deer green score is 186 4/8. He said there are deductions if I enter it in Pope & Young which I don’t think I will anyway.

That has to be close to net 170 typical which is boone and Crockett. I'm not sure Pope and young would accept a crossbow kill?

Pope and Young makes it very clear, that they refuse to recognize a crossbow killed white-tail deer. Exclusions: 1. The following shall not be considered a hunting bow: a.) A crossbow. b.) Any device with a gun-type stock or incorporating any device or mechanism that holds the bowstring at partial or full draw without the shooter’s muscle power. c.) Electronic or battery-powered devices shall not be attached to a hunting bow, with the exception of recording devices that cast no light towards the target and do not aid in rangefinding, sighting or shooting the bow. d.) No portion of the bow’s riser (handle) or any track, trough, channel or other device that attaches directly to the bow’s riser shall contact, support, and/or guide the arrow from a point rearward of the bow’s brace height.

You are correct, I was wrong he said Boone & Crockett. Not entering anyway.

I can tell you I've only seen two bucks in that class in 30 years of hunting. You are the man, Bill, and thank you for your service.

Congrats on a heck of a deer. I'd need new underwear if that one walked by my stand.

I would get the deer scored by a official scorer after the 60 day drying period then decided if you want to enter in a book.
BTW .... there is nothing to be shameful of by entering a deer in a book don’t be discouraged by the naysayers.

It's a hundred bucks that I could spend on something better. I guess I don't care about record books as much as I did my younger years.

You ever get the mount completed or did I miss the pic of the completed mount? BTW.... pretty sure it’s not a $100 to enter a deer in B&C book!

If it cost $100 then I know it won’t be entered. The mount is not done, my friend just wanted me to know the green score as soon as he measured it.

Bill it $40 for B&C if it qualifies and $25 for Hoosier book which it definitely will make you can do either one or none... Not sure how someone got the $100 number
Is your friend a certified scorer?

I don’t know, but two years in a row with October giants and I’m starting not to think it’s luck that’s doing it. Congrats again on a great buck.
