Beyond the fact that I don't own one and I can, give me practical hunting reasons to add one to the collection.

Unless you want to be stuck up and pay extra for less shot but claim it is a great gun for woodcock and quail

I know a guy who uses one for squirrel, rabbit, and quail. I spent my youth using a .410 for all three, but don't hunt any of those a huge amount these days.

Square bore, (shot column is about as long as the bore is wide), patterns well, light recoiling, lighter weight gun.

You gave the 2 magic words. “I can!” So simply because you can, you need to get one. Great lil shotgun! That, and you give me the opportunity to say, “duster...yer wrong on this one!”

I would look at the frame it is made on. If a true 28 gauge frame and not a 28 on a 20 gauge frame it would be nice. If on a 20 frame you might as well get the 20 there is a lot more ammo available.

Light weight, low recoil, neat little round but mainly, why not. I shoot .410 mostly exclusively anymore but given the right gun, I'll have one.

I'm not going to hijack the thread, but in my opinion, the 16ga. is the most underappreciated gun of all time! I never understood why it was made obsolete.

I inherited a Remington Sportsman semi auto from my Dad, I wouldn't sell it for anything.

My 1st shotgun was a single 16. Dad gave it to me. He wasn't sure how he ended up with it but thought it was one of his older brothers. We refinished it. I take it rabbit hunting from time to time.

My 1st was the Remington 1100. Mid 50's model and I still have it and use it at times. It's a gem.

Winchester mod 12 in 16ga ,my grandfathers gun he gave me. Killed tons of squirrels and wabbits with it.
My dad has a couple 28s. Great for doves and biggest is YES you can! He reloads for 28ga so prolly not as expensive to shoot.

I have used one for doves since 2004 and love it. Probably shots the 'truest' pattern of any of my shotgun gauges at 30 yards.

A great day many moons ago just leisurely working my ole boy Rock Point Chief Cotton on some birds at Flatrock Hunting Preserve! Merrill Carrigan, the owner, and I spent the day together working our dogs. He had a young Elhew with a lot of puppy in him so he asked if I would tote the double barrel as he tended to the dog. Twas another fine day with dogs and my 28 ga SxS, Marlin/LC Smith! Still one of my favorite double guns!

I have a Franchi 28 O/U. Nice little gun but nearly as heavy as my Franchi 12 and 20 gauges. Ammo is hard to come by. Almost as bad as 16 gauge but if you can then do it. Life's too short trust me. Great gun for training with quail and chukars.
