Seems like the does are starting to smell right. The magic time is right around the corner. By Halloween it should be good. Need this stupid East wind to get out of here. Killing me.

Might get to hunt Sat am, but trick or treating Sat night with my boy. I rarely get to go since working 2nd shift.
After that, off Sun and Mon, and 3 day weekend next weekend too. Two consecutive 3 day weekends during prime time is unheard of for me! Then off first week of gun, with park hunt that week.
Got hot dates planned with a bunch of treestands coming up. This cold weather couldnt have hit at a better time! Everything is going in the right direction for once.

Boone, will you be taking out any Does right now. I saw where you were going to shoot one. Or are you just going to target your buck then get you Does??

Just depends on area and timing. If get oppurtunity later in morning probably so. We have a very good population does and plan on killing 3 maybe 4 b4 season. I'll stay in touch neighbors but between all 3 of us on 425 acres we want to kill 10 or so. Mostly concentrating on a buck right now though.

This is a great question...what is the best time to kill a doe, or does? Before the rut, or after the rut? Or does it matter, is there even a "good" time to target does?

Think it depends on your hunting area. We definitely need to take out several locally. I keep in touch with my neighbors so we know how many have been killed. Personally I shut my farm down around Dec. 1st. Plan is to shoot 6 off home farm and lease. Prefer to get my buck first now but prolly won't pass a chip shot up either.
