Looking at forecast and Thursdays cold front coming through I think beginning Friday seeking and chasing phases will be in full swing. Weather looks great for about 10 days with lows in upper 30's and low 40's and lunar phase is favorable for daytime movement. My favorite time of year is almost here. Make plans to be in woods.....

Still not chasing up here, the last week has been in the 30’s for highs. Few inches of snow on the ground. Food plot is full every afternoon but the bucks seem more interested in food. Ive been sitting way off the plot observing, will move closer once i see the bucks chasing and hope a big boy comes to play.

And the time change kicks in on Sunday which will really screw up our internal clocks.

And the time change kicks in on Sunday which will really screw up our internal clocks. It does. But the next 2 weeks is what I look forward too all year. Might be esp. good this weekend FRI. and Sat. following 3 crappy days of on and off rain. Time to hit my best stands and live in a tree till get a target buck down.

Saw 7 this morning and came out at 11. 2.5 year old 10 point was trailing a doe but lost interest and spent 30 minutes eating acorns. Had a couple doe's come through earlier with a 6 point on their trail. Was going to shoot lead doe but she got a whiff of me and bolted right as I was about to draw. Little buck followed them as they ran off.

I saw a nice buck chasing a doe on 10/16. Early rut. I think it's all over by now.

No chasing thus far for me in Monroe County. Was still seeing deer on their early season feeding pattern mid last week.

I saw a nice buck chasing a doe on 10/16. Early rut. I think it's all over by now. I read a study by James Kroll years ago that suggested that a few Mature doe will come in heat Mid Oct. setting the timing of peak breeding. (Interesting) Earliest I have seen a doe bred was Oct.31 and seen several bred during month Nov. Once saw one doe bred twice by 2 different bucks.... Lol..

Just remember to kill the big ones all you have to do is give a root toot toot on that magic buck flute and they’ll all come a runnin.

Breeding starts on the 8th plus or minus 1 day. Lasts about 14 days and almost all does are breed. Includes all bucks. Includes BB. Next 3 months to March doe fawns that mature enough will be breed. No real 2nd rut. The does start smelling around the 1st.

Agree with most of your comment. Make no mistake there is breeding going as I type though ((Esp. northern IN) but it is very isolated. Earliest I have seen doe bred was Oct. 31st in Ripley Co. and Nov.3rd in Switz. Co. Nothing is etched in stone and little variables can effect timing. All doe's WILL NOT come into estrous at same time, But majority will be bred in Month of November so fawns will be born in early spring during peak fawning conditions. Those missed will be bred Dec. and a few la st year fawns Jan and Feb. Lot of theories about moon, weather, hunting pressure effecting RUT most experts agree that those factors effect daytime movement and not actual breeding. What's all that mean? IT'S TIME TO HUNT. Best hunting is always those first few days right before peak breeding starts as bucks are seeking and chasing doe's looking for those first to come into heat. GOOD LUCK to EVERYONE. Wear those safety harnesses and shoot straight.

Going to town today saw a small 8 point cutting across a cut corn field at 11:30. Coming home from the parents I saw a whopper working a scrape in a fence row at 4:30.

The Reveal cams are showing several bucks sparring and increased activity getting closer to daytime movement.

Seems like the does are starting to smell right. The magic time is right around the corner. By Halloween it should be good.
