Greetings all. I have a question that hopefully some here can help with.
My father has been in possession of a muzzleloader for the past 40 years or so. At the time he acquired the gun he was told it was 100 years old or so.
It is a .45 percussion cap with a GR Douglas barrel. It does not look to be a production gun of any kind. It appears to be handmade and fitted.
The gun is operable but in need of some repair. There is a patchbox in the stock that is missing the door. The trigger assy. is sloppy (this may be the nature of the beast).
Are there any members here with experience in the types of weapons?
I will be happy to post pictures of the gun if anyone would like to help with ageing and identification.
