Based upon pics that I see on line it appears that more deer are taken toward evening time.
My 2 hunts this year have both been in the morning. Haven't seen any deer- maybe because of standing corn. Perhaps I'll try later in the day next time.
What do y'all think?

It depends a lot on the lay of the land, and to some extent, which crops are rotated each year. I believe it`s mostly the lay of the land however. On the farm I`m having all the trespasser trouble, it`s almost always a much better evening spot, no matter which fields are corn or which are beans. It`s because of where the deer bed and how they use the terrain to move to feed.

Best way to kill a deer is be in the stand as much as you can

I would say it is better in the evening early in the season especially for bucks. But better in the mornings around Oct 26th or 27th. Now doe hunting can be good in the mornings early in the year but it depends on variables like the weather and crops.

I’m way more of a morning hunter than an evening hunter all season long. Second day of season I had the second biggest 8 pointer I’ve ever saw at 15 yards on public land. Plus another big buck a little later. A lot of people will say mornings aren’t good early season but I will say differently. Like was said above, if you are able to be in a stand, then climb up in it. Never know what may stroll by.

From 35 years experience,I will say it all depends. LOL, let me explain. If you can get to a morning stand UNDETECTED, mornings can be good any time. Undetected is the key. It's WAY easier to sneak into a stand in the afternoon than in the predawn darkness under most circumstances.

In the 8 years I’ve been deer hunting this has definitely become my observation for the places I hunt. I see more deer in the evening’s typically but that’s only because I’m not bumping as many deer

I've killed more bucks in the morning than in the evening. I would say that the same thing goes for does also.

I see more deer in evenings, because that's when I hunt most. LOL
What welder says carries a lot of weight; I think.
Mine seem to vary from year to year and week to week sometimes. I figure if I'm not seeing them, I need to hunt a different time or place.
My limited camera data says mine are out in morning in my bottom land, but maybe not on the south end.
I'd say mix it up soon or we won't see them at all for a couple weeks.

I had another thought. When going to your stand, try walking like a deer, raccoon or squirrel. In my experience, they're not afraid of these critters. If this doesn't work, try what these other fellas are sayin'.

Completely agree that to be successful in the morning it’s all about getting in quiet and being sitting still 30 minutes before legal shooting light. That’s always been my rule. If you aren’t up in place well before first light, your odds decrease drastically. Evenings have always been better for me, but I see more deer volume in the mornings during early season.

This year I'm not seeing any movement in the small woods that I'm set up in. That, along with postings that I'm seeing made me curious as to what others are experiencing this year. I am on the edge of an unpicked corn field, that may be where they are staying. Hopefully, they'll be harvesting it soon. As a great statesman once said- "It ain't over 'til it's over."

In my 7 years of hunting, I have killed 16 deer. 4 were in the morning, 11 were in the afternoon/evening, and one was at 12:30 in the afternoon. 4 of these kills were bucks. Only one of my bucks was killed in the morning. As was stated before, get out as much as you can. There are so many variables that go into it, depending on how you hunt, what areas you target, etc. As for me, I like to hunt mainly focusing on getting in close to bedding areas. If you want to kill a deer (especially a big buck) in the morning in a bedding area, you need to get in early and without bumping deer. Often times, the big bucks will be back to their bedding areas before legal shooting light. During an afternoon hunt, you can more easily sneak in close (70-120 yards) to the bedding areas while the buck is still bedded without being detected. So, in my opinion: just get out as much as you can.

I'm mixed on morning, late morning early afternoon and evening. I killed does and bucks in all three time area. The only thing I can add is I killed more big bucks in the late morning early afternoon time. I've never killed a good buck the 1st hour of light. That's 37 years of hunting. Late morning from 9:30 to 12:30 is my favorite time for trophy bucks. Now, in the suburbs with lots of neighborhood noise, it's all thrown out the window. Just after 8 am to noon and then 2 pm to 4 pm in the afternoon. It is amazing the noise changes after morning work rush and the 4-6 pm rush back to home. Morning by far is the best.

Been hunting for close to 50 years. Killed many, many deer with shotgun, rifle, handgun, muzzleloader & bow. More of a meat hunter than a trophy hunter. Most of my deer have been taken in morning hours, but this year I'm just not seeing 'em early.
Next couple of outings will likely be afternoon.
At 72, I don't put in the hours that I once did, but certainly not ready to hang it up.
Appreciate all of the input. Trust that y'all have much success this year.

To me, this question is simple for us. It all depends where you hunt.
Back in the day, we hunted 95% open crop fields. The deer would come out in the evenings to feed, take your pick. Tried a lot of morning hunts on the fields, killed a lot less deer.
Now hunt mostly woods. Deer coming back into woods from fields to bed, take your pick.
Not the gospel, but definately been going this route for us lately. Of course, I hate waking up early due to my work schedule, but have learned you gotta adapt to the times.

Well you should have said this in the first place. You already know to walk like a deer, coon or squirrel. LOL They sure do do what they do with little regard for what we think they should do.
