My dad went into the hospital last Friday for being weak and dehydrated. At first they thought it was a kidney infection. He is a kidney transplant recipient from 1998, and my mom was the donor. He has been in great shape since. One side effect of the immune system anti rejection drugs he needed, was, well a lot of things... But melanoma from Sun exposure was high on the list. He has ended up getting it. Saying it is normally a 6 month death sentence. He has survived at least 26 months now. I feel part of him hanging on was my son Luke. My dad was a lifelong fisherman, and has passed that trait on to Luke. It is his passion in life. I cant even keep up with him now. Well the time has come. The hospital has given up on him since the cancer has progressed too far. We are meeting with hospice, and the timeline is days to a week left. This is very hard on our family. My folks have been married for 47 years. I went to be with my mom tonight, and we were in shambles. Please say a prayer that God will have mercy on him and take him peacefully and painlessly.

Prayer and blessing. Cherish every minute. Take care of your mom. She will need a shoulder to lean on.

Oh man, that's tough. I'm sure it was a blessing to have had him as long as you have. It's a very difficult time indeed.
I will pray for you family, and a peaceful exit for your dad.
If I can do anything for you, let me know and I will certainly try.

Thanks friends. My dad is deteriorating fast, so we are working with Hospice now to get him home to finish out his time left. Very sad time.

Thank you for all the well wishes my friends. My dad wasnt able to make it back home like he desired. His health declined so rapidly, there wasnt time to get everything delivered and set up. He passed away peacefully today, with my mom and me each holding his hands. We were there till the last breath. He was a wonderful father, husband, and grandfather that devoted his entire life to his family and being kind to others. This world lost one of the greatest men in history today. My only regret is, we couldnt get my son in to tell him goodbye. I pleaded with everyone to make an exception due to the circumstances, but they declined. It will be my darkest day to have to tell him that "Grampy Dave" wont be coming home again. God please give me the strength. Thank you.
