Not a Remington fan. Good riddance.

I didn't know Remington owned Barnes. I like Barnes. I like the accutip deer slugs too. Guns, I like a lot of them better than Remington.

Yet years ago, very few guns were better than Remington.

Yes years ago, very few guns were better than Remington. I hear you. I owned an 870 Wingmaster and an 1100 for years. They were good quality firearms that gave me years of trouble free service. The military used the 700 for the platform of their sniper rifles. Unfortunately, the quality became rather hit or miss and the cheaper "express" versions weren't much to brag about.

On my trips to Arkansas to get fish, I pass a big building that is next to I-57 in Illinois that says VISTA OUTDOORS on it.

I have one of the early year 870 Express 12 gauge, the ex had a 20 (wish I could have kept that) that has all the quality of the Wingmasters just not the high end finish. I don't care for the synthetic versions at all.

All I've ever owned for shotguns were 870's my closet is holding 4 of them right now. Absolutely zero complaints from me. To me they are the toughest gun you could ask for. Drop it in a swamp drag it through the mud bury it in the sand then grab it by the stock and come up shooting. And if you happen to "forget" to clean it? Who cares! It's an 870! Glad I got two youth models for my sons. I will be sad to see them go.

I have 2 3” 12GA 870’s. One late 70’s the other early 80’s. Love them; I would not buy a new one. It would be great to see Remington address their QC issues with this acquisition but being that it is a holding company I am not holding my breath. The Marlin acquisition gives me far more hope
