When it comes to deer hunting with a gun....are any of you shooting only muzzleloaders? I will be in that classification for the first time this season. No more shotgunning for me! The shells are too much $$$. Besides I like making one shot count. I am going with 1 scope setup and 1 unscoped for thicker, brushy areas. ;D

Muzzleloader only for me. That's been the case for the last 6-7 years. TC Omega 50 caliber.

Yep...made the switch last year.
I like the one shot challenge of the smoke pole. Like messing with the powder, sabots and such.
I too have an Omega .50 caliber. One of the nicest guns I shot....absolutely love it.

Aside from a little bow hunting in 2002, I've been muzzleloader only since then. I've got 4 ML rifles and a ML pistol I can use during the late season here in IL.

During gun season, I strictly use "smokeless smoke poles" (Savage) ;D

Savage 10 ML for me the last six years. My gun will shot 1" groups or less @100yds. Its a very effective deer gun. Here is a group i shot a month ago. Remember this is a smokeless muzzleloader and only use smokeless powder in guns that are designed to use it. h.h.

I've been hunting with T/C Renegade since 1976 during gun season. Back then it was strictly blackpowder but I've progressed all the way to using Pyrodex. Used to shoot only roundballs but I've also progressed clear up to using mini-balls. Progress, eh? One of these days I'll get one of those new fangled in-line guns with a scope on it but not yet....not yet.

The first black powder gun i bought was in 1975. It was a T/C Hawkins and i paid $169.00 for it. A pound of Dupont ff was 4.00. I shot my first deer using a 180 grn round ball, spit patch and 90 grn of powder. I poured my own balls out of wheel weights and used pillow ticking for patches.
Ive deer hunted with slug guns but muzzle loaders are my favorite and always will be. h.h.

It'll probably be with a smokepole only,I haven't decided for sure yet.But it won't be with a shotgun,I don't ever hunt with a shotgun,if it's anything else it will be with the 35 Rem pistol, but probably the muzzleloader .

I just put see through rings and a scope on the 209x50. That's the worst of both worlds. If you really think you'll use the open sights try a good pair of quick release rings like the Warne rings available from T/C. They return to zero.

Bought my first Encore 209x50 a few years ago and it is the only gun the wife will use for deer season since then. Even engraved her name into the stock for her.

I only carry a muzzleloader during gun season, unless its my bow or maybe my pistol. Really though the range advantage of the smokepole is why I carry one.

I hunt with a muzzleloader backed up by a handgun during firearms season. I gave up on shotguns 5-6 years ago.

arent the smokeless muzzleloaders just a reinvention of the single shot centerfire rifle?
