Topic was brought up on Facebook and seems like a lot of confusion on topic. I reached out to IDNR law enforcement for clarity. It is LEGAL to hunt over water sources and water tanks as long as no attractant's are added to water. NO GREY AREA. Have hunted over water sources in past but never water tanks specifically . Guess there is a new trend over putting out water tanks and hunting over. If you choose to do so you are legal.

Yep. Morrison on this site has answered that question here before. Yes that is actually who I contacted. I knew it was addressed a year or 2 ago and was certain they were legal but wanted to make sure as the facebook warrior's were all saying they were illegal when someone posted they were putting tanks out... LOL. Good ole social media. It is a interesting topic and I would try but I have plenty of natural water sources on my farm aka: 4 ponds and 2 creeks running through property.

I had some Facebook warriors making comments about my bathtub water hole being illegal. I also had a few telling me I was spreading EHD and breeding mosquitoes. I use a mosquito dunk once a month to prevent those from breeding. As as EHD, I've never seen any signs of that on our property.

Midges breeding areas are the muddy edges of ponds and creeks.

It will be the first hunting season that it's been in the ground. I know I'm getting some good pictures there. I'm hoping it will be a hot spot for bucks during the rut when they are running all day.

I've been meaning to put a couple in, but can't get motivated to do it in this heat. It might be a project for next year.

Is it odd that I'm trying to get rid of water holes?
I have several spots where the wonderful loggers either got stuck or at least sunk a lot with the skidder. Believe it or not, they didn't bother themselves with filling the holes back in. I'm trying to rid myself of those areas because of the concern over EHD.

Always have in contract for logger to grade logging roads as well as seed and grade and seed as well as clean up landings.
