My family had the misfortune of witnessing a BLM protest.

Before I go into the details, keep in mind that I am on construction sites all day, every day. My ears are well seasoned and my own mouth is certainly not filtered.
There is a very nice pedestrian bridge that links Jeffersonville and Louisville with public parks on both sides. It’s a pleasant two mile walk over and back with an ice cream shop and outdoor pub at the foot of the Jeffersonville side. Get a little exercise, kids get a cone, the wife and I enjoy a beer or two. Great family fun. Well, not yesterday. The local chapter of BLM was staging an event in the park. We didn’t pay much attention to it at first, mostly because we weren’t close enough to hear the circus. We were about to the KY side when two young black men approached with a radio blaring original F-the Police rap cut from years ago and they were singing along as loud as possible. Again, Sunday afternoon in a public setting with families trying to enjoy themselves.
When we got back to the IN side we noticed that the protest had gone mobile and they were marching up and down the sidewalk and taunting the police. They were chanting various obscenities towards the officers and, then, a female officer got after one of them for blocking traffic. They all began chanting sexual obscenities to her. Not sure what I was supposed to do with my 10 and 13 year old daughters. When I say chanting, I mean very loud and in unison. Not just one idiot on a rant.
We were finally able to get off of the bridge and head towards the car. It was another 30 minutes before we could finally leave. A cop flashed lights and honked at me. Luckily, it was an officer that I know. He was able to divert the circus away from where we were parked long enough for us to get the h&ll out of there. He was furious that he was called in on his day off to deal with the BS. I don’t know how much he is paid, but I’m guessing that a 22 year veteran officer is not cheap on overtime.
Honestly, I was embarrassed as an American. The disrespect towards public servants was something that I had only seen on TV. The chanting of obscenities and sexual innuendo in a public park was certainly nothing that I have ever witnessed. There were 30-35 morons in this circus, mostly unkempt looking white males that couldn’t get a job with a traveling carnival. Just a few black males, but they were by far the most vocal. Also a few white females, overweight with numerous tattoos and dyed hair. Just stating an eye-witness facts. I didn’t see anyone that I would guess to be over 25.
It was, without a doubt, the most ridiculous display of behavior that I have ever witnessed.
