Our area in SE INDIANA is extremely dry and with these hot and humid conditions I am already getting concerned about a possible bad EHD outbreak again this late summer. Hopefully we can get some good soaking rains over the weekend if not the extended forecast doesn't look favorable....

Yep, some areas very wet and some very dry. If very dry I would be more concerned about my house foundation than EHD. Make sure you water your foundation.

I live in the Southern part of the state and we've had a whopping .20 inches this entire month and practically every day has been in the mid 90's.
Not good for the foundation, not good for the grass, shrubs and trees and not good for the deer.

1.25" here on Tuesday. BUT the River Birch trees were already starting to drop leaves, grass is brown and the fruit trees have curled leaves. Unfortunately that amount of rain was enough to jump start the weed growth and was barely enough to knock the dust down, the ground sucked it up so fast. No puddles anywhere a few hours after the storm.

East Central near Muncie
We have had short bursts of rain the last few days but they were potent bursts, probably a half inch to an inch all told.

I've been hauling 200 gallon of water for my garden every other day this week just hoping for rain. I'm not sure I shouldn't be doing it every day the way it looks and as hard the ground is.

We missed again yday afternoon and this morning. Weatherman has really backed off on todays rain totals as well. Not looking good for us in Switzerland and Ohio Counties as a whole. (Few areas got rain y'day). Plan on finishing up hay next week But without H20 additional cuttings and fall food plots are doubtful at this point.

Last evening we picked up about an inch of rain. Hopefully, we'll get more on Sunday. If not, with that heat coming in, it'll be dry as a bone again by the end of next week.

Last couple rains that came through our area literally split and went north and south of us. Haven't had rain for a week, but having fairly good dews in the mornings. Grass needs cut every 5-6 days.

As a beekeeper the weather in the past few weeks has been great since those two freezes wiped out the spring tree pollen. The clover, nettle, milkweed, wild flowers and now thistle are doing very well. Soon if not now the basswoods are blooming. I wish there where still basswood trees. The wood demand wiped out most of them. I just ordered 4 basswood trees and my brother's place has one batch of basswood trees and hoping to find some small ones to transplant this fall. Basswood is known as a bee tree. Forget to mention the lavender. One of the best perennial plants for bees
