Folks anyone know of a blackpowder supplier in the Indianapolis area. Hate to go mail order, most places have a $20 hazmat fee (no matter the amount you order) and most have a min. order of 25 lbs. Yeah I can see Homeland Security knocking on my door after I order 25lbs of Blackpowder.

I am not certain on this but "Homeland Security " just may have a say so in the future of black powder. It seems that a lot of "terrorists" are using BP for their sick attacks on our country. Have you tried on of the BP subs. like "777" or Pyrodex?

I am currently using Pyrodex. I am brand new to Muzzleloading (3 Weeks now). My MZ is a CVA sidelock Percussion Cap Rifle. I shoot Patch Round Balls. My Rifle Twist is 1:48. 50 Cal. 26 Inch Barrel.
While on the range I was told that I would get better results with BP than a sub like Pyrodex. I am currently getting 1 - 2 Inch groups at 50 Yards.
So is BP really better than Pyrodex or other subs? Walmart has Pyrodex and 777 so if BP doesn't really give me an advantage I would love to continue to use something I can get my hands on locally.
I plan to hunt and do causal shooting with my MZ.

I've been into M/L's since around 1980. I currently have a Thompson/Center Black Diamond in .50 cal. I use 90 grains (Volume) of "777" FG behind a sabot .452" Hornady XTP 250 grain bullet, all fired by a 209 shotgun primer. Triple "7" is much cleaner burning than BP or Pyrodex and much less corrosive than either. I use windex to clean the barrel and then use wonder lube, had no problems todate. You can use a sabot bullet in your CVA since it has a 1-in-48" twist or a maxihunter type bullet, if you wish. I don't know a great deal about CVA M/L so you'd have to experiment with different loads to acheave the best accurate load. for your rifle.
