Was on the side of my pole barn today and looked in the woods to see a young doe laying on her side. After walking towards her she could only raise her head and looks very weak. She’s trying to give birth but it’s been going on for 3 hours and I don’t think she’s gonna make it. Anything I can do for her?

I guess if part of the fawn is out you could help by pulling on it. If not there isn’t a whole lot that you can do.
Seems pretty early to be dropping fawns. Maybe she is Losing it?

Nothing showing yet but felt her stomach and definitely pregnant.

It may be worth a call to the local DNR dispatch...if a wildlife biologist happens to be close I could see one coming out to possibly check and help...but all would depend where they are.

Its been 15 hours since the thread was opened so I suspect nature has taken her course and I'm not hopeful for a positive outcome. that little doe was in pretty bad shape if she let Bill approach her and touch her.

I called DNR yesterday and was told to let nature take its course as there’s nothing they can do. Checked this morning about 10am, she’s still there with no change. She’s almost gone as she couldn’t even raise her head anymore. I cleared the leaves and brush from her face and left the property. Won’t be back till next week.
