With jjas recent post, I started thinking! I wonder if hunters, and fisherman and other Outdoorsman for that matter will buy from Dick’s. What if they have a great deal on guns, or tree stands, or other gear since they are liquidating that section? Just pondering here a bit! Thoughts?

My understanding is that in every store that is on the list, the firearms will be discounted by 10% right off the bat and then will discounted periodically by an additional 10% until most of the firearms are sold. The firearms that aren't sold will then be sent to the Field and Stream stores. The reason they aren't sending all of the inventory to other stores right off the bat, is that it's apparently a pain in the butt to transfer those guns between stores and Dick's management doesn't want to fool with it.
I'm not sure if the hunting clothing, ammo, bows, crossbows, etc are going to be discounted periodically like the guns will be, or just discounted by a certain amount to begin with and sold that way. Regardless, that type of inventory will be sold @ the local store.
Either way, if there's a gun I wanted from them (which is unlikely based on the inventory at my local Dick's), I might buy it, or some ammo, or whatever.
I know I'm going to catch h*ll from some of you, but I'll bet I'm not the only one on this forum, or in the hunting/fishing community that would consider buying something from Dick's if the price is low enough and you wanted it.
Let the flaming begin!

I'm slowing down buying hunting related stuff and most other sports stuff. Just the age time thing. I haven't been to a Dick's in 7 or 8 years. No need to go there anymore. Their golf stuff is just okay. Can find better on the web.

Haven’t been there in years and don’t ever plan to again. They could have their stuff 90% off and I still wouldn’t buy it. Had a buddy try to get me a tube to pull behind the boat from there because it was a great deal. That and life jackets were buy one get one half off. I refused all of it. I’ll pay twice more to not go there.

I Wouldn't spend a penny at Dicks if they were the only place on the planet that had what I wanted or needed. Anti-gun, anti-Second Amendment, anti-constitution thugs. Period.

For a great deal, yes. But since I don't shop there normally I'd have to see an ad for me to want to buy something.

I bought s pair of running shoes there last year, never again ... 2 years back I got some .22 ammo there... but they are not known as a 'hunting' store to me, at least I never thought they were, Ive purchased firearms from Bass Pro, Cabelas and Dunhams, I refuse to step foot in Dicks, if even for a jock strap ...

Dick's Sporting Goods Store here in Evansville, IN opened a new store next to Best Buy in a new shopping center. The closed the old store in another shopping center. I frequent Best Buy a lot here in town. But I've yet to go to the new Dick's Sporting Good store since the new store opened. Since they stopped setting AR15's I've refused to shop there. We have Academy Sporting Goods store and that is whee I will buy my outdoors and other types of sporting goods. We use to have a Gander Mountain but they closed down after being purchsed by another company. I spent all my money there ever before Dick's Sporting Goods Store stopped selling AR15s. I also spent a lot of money at Buck and Jakes on the West Side of Evansville, IN and the West side of Boonville, IN.

I guess the true answer for everybody would depend on how the supply and demand issue on toilet paper turns out. ;-)

For a good deal...you bet. I cant get emotionally involved in every business decision to support my cause or not... This is exactly how I have grown to feel about the way I live from day to day. I'm rarely in the market for anything that Dick's sells. But if I was, I'd go there if I thought it was my best option. Dick's basically shares the parking lot with BPS in Clarksville, so I just don't have the need to shop there. I did frequent the store when I was feeding my golf addiction, which I have overcome. I've been in recovery for six years now and both my mind and bank account are better off. Shop where you want and express your opinion with your wallet.

Anyone be wanting to buy hunting stuff at Dicks in Evansville can forget it.
The wife needed birthday cards so we went to the Hallmark store. I had to whiz so I went into Dicks. No hunting stuff at all. All gone. Plenty of fishing stuff but nothing hunting.

No hunting stuff at all. All gone. Plenty of fishing stuff but nothing hunting. The Dick's around me shipped the dozen or so guns they had left to a Field and Stream store just after Christmas. The rest of the hunting stuff was gone the last time I walked in there (and I was told there would be no more bows, camo, etc). That particular store hasn't carried fishing stuff for the last two or three years. They sell kayaks, but no fishing rods, reels or lures. Why? I haven't a clue. They have plenty of Yeti coolers and whatnot in the space that fishing equipment used to occupy. BTW, the Walmart in New Albany no longer sells firearms. The times, they are a-changin'...

I was in Dick's at Plainfield last weekend, first time in a couple of years. Their ENTIRE hunting section was on closeout and it would easily fit in a couple 5 gallon buckets. At the risk of aging myself OH,HOW I MISS GALLYANS!
