With a lot of folks disconnecting their old fashion home phones and going with cell phones as their primary phone make sure you do the following.
Make a list of everybody that needs to know your new telephone number and be sure to contact them.
I am friends with our county small animal shelter on Facebook and so many dogs are being recovered that are chipped but when they attempt to contact the owner the telephone number that was associated with the dog has been changed and the owners cannot be contacted.
My dog was chipped through my vet so whenever I take her in for her annual shots I always have my vet scan her for me while I watch just to make sure everything is working OK. I also got a new collar tag that slides onto her collar that has her new telephone number and it also says she is chipped.
This has been a public service announcement.

With cell service so bad in this are, I have to have a land line. Without the cell signal booster tied to the internet there are times that I can't even send a text on the cell from the house.
I was told NOT to have the dogs name on the collar, but your info including home and/or cell and email.

My parents refuse to get rid of their land line and upgrade to smart phones. The infrastructure of the area phone service is on shambles and their line is frequently down. They have pay-as-you-go flip phones. Well, it all went to hell the other day. Dad's phone was out of minutes and then died completely the day after he bought more. The same day, the land line went down and Frontier is a week out for service calls. Then, mom's phone went low on minutes. It was a near catastrophe. My brother suggested that they step it up and get with the times. It was not received well. They also use some sort of half-@$$ antennae for internet service. They claim that new technology costs too much.

I'd like to get rid of our landline too as 90+% of our calls on it are spam/scam calls. My wife doesn't want to part with it. She used to run our church's Helping Hand program and needed a land line. Not now, but she still wont let go. We do live somewhat down in a "valley/hole" and our cell phone coverage is not the best, but adequate for me, but not her. I even bought an ATT MicroCell booster that works less than 25% of the time.

When I was running beagles before tracking collars were affordable My collar tags just said CALL COLLECT 260-XXX-YYYY. My tipups are so old that the collar tags I have on them carry the old 219 area code instead of 260.

I can only use my cell phone in our bathroom sometimes, but we live in the sticks in a two-story house with a metal roof. I can go outside and usually walk around my yard and get service, but that is sometimes hard to do when your in your underwear and it's cold outside.
