Well I decided to use the last day of deer season to go hunt an apple property and I’m glad I did. I had no idea what to expect when my friend called the other day and said he was drawn and they were looking to fill a spot to go hunt pheasants and quail. “Does the dnr stock the properties with birds?” I asked. He said no so I thought it sounded like a tough chance at seeing anything. We ended up shooting 7 quail between the three of us and saw a ton of birds. I’ll for sure be applying for these hunts in the future. No pheasants seen but the quail were plentiful

That’s awesome! What part of the state were you hunting?

This was in the west central portion. He was drawn for Saturday and Sunday but only got to pick one day

Can anyone lend some advice on where to go for public hunting quail? I’m getting into it late but I brought my dog and he did well for a first timer. I want to start working with him and give it one more go this last weekend.

Chinook FWA, Glendale FWA and Goose Pond would probably be your best bets. Season ends on Friday the 10th though.
