Set the hook sooner. Letting your pray swallow the bait is inhumane. Need it in the corner of the mouth.
Well played otherwise

Fact it was a joke still doesn't change my advice to anyone coming here and reading it. Hope all had a Merry Christmas!

Fact it was a joke still doesn't change my advice to anyone coming here and reading it. Hope all had a Merry Christmas! You do realize most modern firearms iron sights coming NEW from the manufacturer are very accurate right out of the box just as planned by the manufacturer. But yes it's good practice to shoot at least one shot for accuracy before hunting! BTW...I have a model 310 Winchester giving to me as a gift NEW back in 70ies that still have the iron sights in same place as when it came NEW....Very accurate! just saying.

The 310's are tack drivers in my experience. Have one in the safe that sadly never really gets walked much anymore as I grab some others for squirrels which were handed down from my two grandpas which have that special factor that trumps the 310 I bought at a show long time ago.

I got my girls two new .22 rifles for Christmas this year. Checked the sights on a shoe box at 15 yards. One was right on the dot, the other wouldn't even hit the shoebox.

There were some other issues with that rifle as well. It didn't pass a basic function check, trigger would stick in the rearward position. The issue there was that the screws holding the stock to the receiver were extremely loose. I got the impression that it was hastily thrown together and put into a box to get it out the door. Keystone brand.

I don't hunt for trophies to start with, the trophy is just an extra besides the meat in the freezer. Ooh & I agree with the rest hunting with a new rifle without taking a verification shot is stupid. I sure hope you were joking.
