Interesting: "If people come in contact with a coyote and want it to go away, try and make it uncomfortable by doing the following: Yell Wave your arms Spray it with a hose Throw tennis balls or small stones at it, but don’t throw anything that could be food (like apples) Carry a jar of coins to shake or a small air horn to make noise." A jar of coins?!?!

And what's wrong with just shooting them?

Yeah, I was just thinking that the 17 HMR or 22 Hornet would be loud enough to scare them off!

Yeah, I was just thinking that the 17 HMR or 22 Hornet would be loud enough to scare them off! A couple of years ago I popped one with the Kahr 9mm that was less than 30 yds from the house (at midnight). Crimson Trace laser grips on it worked great.

Lots of people in and around my suburban neighborhood are freaking out about coyotes as of late. A few small dogs got grabbed over the past few weeks in the area.
I should pull some of the better quotes as you'd get quite a kick out of them. People think the city should remove them all for them and just can't seem to grasp the concept of taking their small dogs outside on a leash and not leaving them unattended.
My favorite was the lady who says she saw a wolf.

I keep a .357 in the vehicle so I can quickly shoot at any I see while driving the backroads. I have never trapped before but I have a box full and am ready to try it. They are getting bad around here

They have been real viable on the SW side of Ft Wayne. $500k neighborhood and the yotes are running all through it. They even grabbed a little dog a while back. Shoot or trap them keep the news out of the loop.

My 'American Sporting Rifle" has worked wonders around my house. The 'yotes give my place a much wider berth than the used to. Within a year of bounding my house I shot 4 from the house and killed another with my bow from my stand that was behind my neighbor's house.

I live in the county....I have found the best way to make them "uncomfortable" is to shoot at them! And I don;t shoot at them to chase them off either!!

I can only shoot in front of my house and they tend to hug the back property line, I have neighbors back there as well as their barn.
The one time I had some in front of the house I went out with a rifle but the neighbors were at the end of their drive, backing up and pulling forward trying to get them in the headlights.
It pushed them back and turned a 25 yard shot into a 150 yard shot in the dark. Whatever, theyll learn to quit being curious when their small dogs get snatched up.

I would entertain a shotgun and turkey loads...

I think the voting results are in and by a landslide:
SHOOTING THEM is a sure fire way to get them to go away and stay away.
One time a buddy hit one in his truck, knocked him out and we went ahead and sent him on.
