A childhood friend sent me a snap this morning saying he was at his families in Evansville until Saturday (he lives in Florida). In the background of his picture, I could see he was on a cut cornfield. I asked if the property was huntable, and he said it is. I’m heading down there Friday to spend some time with him and get some time in the woods at the same time.
My question- anyone hunting down there and have any report of the population and their current movements you’ve seen?

Deer were still moving as of last week. Hadn’t been out since. What part of vanderburgh county is it?

Let me know what side of Evansville. I know people who hunt all areas. Bethel township. I found what looks like a pretty good funnel between some cut fields. Friday morning I’m heading down early, still hunting/scouting for a couple hours then spending the rest of the day catching up with him. He was reminded of some family obligations and he invited me, so I’m going to do that with him since he can’t get out of it to hunt with me All day Saturday (and possibly Sunday ( if I decide to fork out hotel cash) I’ll be hunting.

Bethel Township is in Posey county around Griffin Indiana. I have a buddy who has a lease there and he always brings home a nice deer. Not that close to Evansville.

I saw that it’s not “in Evansville “ after he sent the address. I’ve already shot my buck , so I’m hoping to bring home a doe or two if the opportunity presents itself. Thanks for the info, and giving me some hope!

By huntable does that mean you'll have permission? Just something to think about, getting permission in the Griffin area is like finding a $100 bill in the parking logotype Goodwill store. It doesn't happen often! I hope this area is covered for you, if so you should see plenty of deer.

Other portions of their land are leased.

Ive always seen a lot of deer in that area. Had permission to hunt some land there at one time, but as so frequently happens, I didnt trust the person giving me permission so I never did hunt it.
