Took my deer to Jaworski's in Crumstown I was truck number 7 in line and there were again that many when I left.
No spectacular bucks and the average was about 3 bucks to every 1 doe.

Pictures like that are part of the reason why I process my own.

How do you know you're getting the meat from YOUR deer back?

I processed my own deer for over 30+ years till about 5 years ago when an emergency came up right after I shot my deer on a warm morning and I knew I wouldn't be able to get to it for a couple days. I took it to Jaworski's because it was the owner's father who taught me how to field dress and butcher a deer some 30 years earlier. They did a great job and I didn't have to deal with the mess, now I take my deer there every year. If you are not comfortable with someones service then by all means do it yourself or find a different business. I have never been suspicious of the quality of my deer meat.
BTW: the outside temp was 33 degrees when this photo was taken and they had a crew stripping down the deer and cooler hanging the carcasses as fast as they could.
For me it's like the difference between sitting in a tree or sitting in a comfy "shoot house" spend 8 hours doing it yourself and cleaning up the mess or have somebody do it for you.
The older I get the smarter I am getting at this.

How do you know you're getting the meat from YOUR deer back? EXACTLY! And the same for scrub's comment. Refer to all of my posts about why I process my own. Now, I absolutely understand that not everyone can or has the interest in processing. I am also clear that there is no realistic way that anyone trying to make money at processing can do it without "batching" sausage, jerky, etc. My main motivation, other than enjoyment, for processing myself is how I have seen others care for the deer after the kill. Enough said.

I usually do mine myself but I wasn't "feeling it" this year. Plus, I was really wanting to restock my summer sausage supply and Slabaugh's in Nappanee makes the best I've ever had. So, I took my doe there around 4:00 Saturday afternoon. They said I was about the 65th deer they had taken in that day and I was about the 300th for the year. They do an amazing job and I have never had an issue with the meat I got back. Actually I'm usually surprised by how much more I get back than how much I get when I do it myself.

It’s always funny the people who say that and then go buy meat from a store like it’s no big deal.

That makes two of us got a whole herd of beef next farm over easy pickings good chance I could get one off my porch I’m thankful the wind rarely comes from that way I got to travel a bit for pigs though

I do my own because I do like to do it but it is a lot of work by yourself Some of it is because I wanted the tools to make other kinds of beef pig snack sticks summer sausage ground and the likes
On the other hand Manley meats is just down the road I’d have no problem taking a deer if I had to they will refuse deer if they don’t like the way it looks
Plus for the most part when I buy a pig or a beef from the farmers they do the processing for me

The op has went above and beyond to retrieve his deer, then takes his deer to a processer of his choice, and is very happy about all the buz of opening weekend! I’m just saying I understand the preference, but sometimes things aren’t ideal.
