I was reading on another forum about using vanilla as a cover up scent. We have a lot of vanilla from our mission trips to the Dominican Republic because it's really cheap there and is the real stuff. I'm wondering if it's not legal to use since it's a food product?

I would consider it baiting. If They can lick it. Imo.
Though this theory throws scent balls under the bus.
Would get pretty expensive to use in the woods. Save it for the Mrs. Baking goods. Lol.

They sell Apple cover scent and it can be licked and it's not considered baiting. I would think if it's something that you applying on yourself it's a cover scent. I use cedar and it's a deer food. Other examples are Acorn cover scents.

I would think that a "cover scent" would be applied to the clothing so a deer would never get close enough to lick it? Now if one was tossing out "vanilla" wafers all around his stand...

Yeah I guess cover scent they wouldn't be able to get close enough.
My mind went to thinking about a story I was told of using it in a dripper...

Used to use it all the time, before the great evercalm came about. I did some research on that and went and got some tonight. I felt like I was sinning because I had to buy it at Dicks because that was the only place I could find it.

I use it ,and active scrape in my drippers. Only two scents I use.

Only negative I've found with it, is when I'm in a stand and I put it on the tree, the deer like to bed under my stand lol.
