Question on scrapes. One of my main areas I hunt is 17 acres. It's the right 17 acres though. It's a perfect travel corridor, from river bottom to crops. I'll see countless deer there per year. Mostly does until the rut heats up. Then it can be a buck parade. Mature bucks to. Does bed there regularly. Alot. Which when the the rut heats up, so does the buck sitings. Obviously their cruising through checking the does. All that to get to my question. Every year multiple scrapes will pop up late october thru the rut. Stay fresh. Are these bucks that hit these scrapes, hitting it because it's their core area? 17 acres? No way I dont bump them. I wont see a buck or any sign til rut phases. Just cruising though waiting for a doe to hit the scrape to? Help me understand a little better.

Sounds like community scrapes to me. Just a place to leave their mark/scent and check to see who else has been in the area. I don’t put a lot of faith in hunting over scrapes anyway. Just my thoughts.

Scrapes this time or later are younger and pass through bucks. Older bucks make huge scrapes early September. Good 6-10 feet size. Once you see one you are amazed by the size and smell. The smaller late ones are mostly checked at night. Good spot for does. They will check to see who's around. If you ever find one in mid September that's the area to hunt.

Looking for my buck today I found several scrapes in my 15 acre woods . A couple were the size of a truck hood.
