I am working on repairing my programmer for my truck and it has an issue with the LCD display not displaying anything but it does have the backlight.
So I got the PCB taken apart and found the LCD module displaytech 64128E is no longer available. It uses a ks0713 IC which is no longer made. Since it's no longer made I can't find any modules that have this IC.
I can find a lot of modules that use a ST7565 IC but it doesn't appear that I can directly put any of these modules into my unit. The part I don't know about is this a pinout problem or a code problem between the ks0713 and the ST7565 IC? Is there something that I can use as a translator?
I know this may be a long shot but everything I can find says eh its not made anymore and rewrite the code. Since this is a purchased product I can't rewrite any code on the item. And I'm a mechanical guy not a programmer or electrical guy.
I am not worried about the physical size of a replacement as I can make a new housing.

You can go to scavenge yard and see if you can find the same display.

Thanks Wayne, I will see what I can find. The problem is this is an aftermarket unit that is no longer sold. Usually something someone would take out of a vehicle if being scrapped. If I find one on ebay or something that is currently working the price isn't far below a brand new unit.

Is there a chance you can call the company? If you can get to the right person they may still have a few extra displays around from warrantied units. Or since it seems to be older and probably has a computer connection, they may be able to send you a program to allow you to control it from a laptop. That way you can at least get the tune off.
