Found both my freezers off yesterday with a majority of the contents thawed out but still cool. About 120# of deer, hog, and fish, as well as another 50# of store bought.
Managed to cook or give away all of the wild game, exception was the fish. All the store bought food got trashed.
Guess ill go buy a power loss alarm.

I think if it was good enough to cook, it would have been good enough to refreeze. I frequently freeze game, then thaw weeks or months later to finish butchering/grinding, then refreeze. I've done many hundreds of pounds of game this way with no ill effects.

Was it the breaker? I always warn our customers against adding freezers or refrigerators in garages or basements unless a dedicated circuit has been added. Otherwise, you are likely plugging into a gfci protected plug, which is prone to tripping when compressors start up.

Been thru that before.
Also lost due to long term power outage. Finally bought a big generator for that mess.
We did lose our wifi router to a bolt of lightening on Tuesday.

For whatever reason that strip tripped. Im assuming related to the big storm we had the other night.

Hog is a little tricky, as it doesn't age well like red meat.
