Job has me traveling a good bit. Strange deal the other day as I was as headed up I-65 to Chicago. Somewhere around mile marker 216-217 I noticed something right next to my driver window. Kind of startled me at first. I quickly realized it was a pigeon. I had the cruise set at 70 and this thing was maybe 2 feet off my driver mirror hanging right with me. And it cruised with me like it was racing me, or maybe drafting! I don’t know what it was doing but it didn’t even seem to be laboring. As I exited off the Fair Oaks edit 220, the pigeon continued with another vehicle down 65. Very cool And kind of strange to me. Any idea what gives here? Somebody raise racing pigeons around there? Or just a really fast bird?

I don't have an answer for you, but when I was doing a lot of Spaniel training we used a LOT of pigeons. I used 1 1/4 oz. #7's at 1,330 fps backed up by the next shot being 1 3/8 oz. buffered #6's at 1,380 fps. They couldn't outfly those, although they really tried.

At one point I had a crazy thought about rolling down the window and trying to grab the crazy thing. And then my thoughts turn to trying to get a video or picture but by that point I was exiting.

My neighbor raises pigeons and told me last week that he's missing a pair. And you know I don't live too far from the 220 exit HCG. Lol!

Knowing you were in that neck of the woods, I wondered if you might know something about this!! I wonder if they are marked or banded somehow? I didn't notice anything like a band, but then I wasn't really looking for one either.

That's a good question. He didn't mention bandings and I failed to ask
