Everyone can attest to the old saying that... a sharp knife is safer than a dull one. BS!!!
I was hurrying to make a couple wingbone turkey calls from my recent harvest, and my pocket knife cut my thumb open like a warm stick of butter. Dammit!!! Had to have my wife bandage me up 4 times before finished, then pre and post shower. I am a diesel mechanic with leather like hands. So it takes major damage to make me nervous.
I enjoy and take pride in sharpening knives with my Work Sharp Ken Onion Edition belt sharpener. Razor sharp is an understatement. Be careful!!!

That'll teach ya to keep your fat thumb out of the way!!! And it might teach ya not to rush when you have sharp objects in your hand too.
You'll live. LOL

Sharpened up a friend's knife several years ago. First thing he did was go to the emergency room for stitches.
Used to a dull blade, he ran his thumb along the edge to see how sharp it was. SMH.

I had always heard you would rather get cut with a sharp knife than a dull one since the dull one "tears" your skin rather than cut it, easier for them to sew it up.

Correct, I've been cut with some sharp stuff, and if I get the pieces back together quickly, they are grown back together within a few days.
