The Ghost and the Darkness movie was about those lions. Very interesting story.

Go to the Field Museum in Chicago and see them in person. They have them mounted and the actual skulls in an exhibit

Truly terrifying. The Ghost and the Darkness was indeed a good flick, and it's incredible to think that the real ones were worse.
Makes sense in a way. They figured out that these men were tasty and easy to catch. It's a wonder more of that didn't happen.
Maneaters still happen...they just usually don't get press until the numbers tick high enough. There was a bad one named "Osama" a few years ago.

Truly terrifying. The Ghost and the Darkness was indeed a good flick, and it's incredible to think that the real ones were worse. Makes sense in a way. They figured out that these men were tasty and easy to catch. It's a wonder more of that didn't happen. Maneaters still happen...they just usually don't get press until the numbers tick high enough. There was one named "Osama" a few years ago. As I understand it the lions developed a taste for human flesh eating corpses of rail road workers that died. They were supposed to be buried but folks got lazy and just tossed the bodies in the Bush. Easy pickings..

I also read a book about F. Selous hunting leopards, that's some serious stuff there too!!
