Well "deadeer" was right, believe and good things might happen, that being said I found a small group with two long beards and 8 hens so Saturday morning my grandson and I will be out there for an all day picnic complete with turkey sandwiches and all sorts of great food. This will be his fourth season and I hope he can score.

Headed out the door in just a few minutes for a final scouting trip. Check cameras, perhaps put up another ground blind, clear out a couple more natural blinds, try and see where the birds are and where they're wanting to be. I've checked with the neighbors and no one will be out during youth season so I'm not concerned about messing up anyone.

On the back porch watching it snow/rain. Not one gobble yet. Weather not good here in S.E indiana.

Didn't see any birds this morning but, seen some good sign anyhow. Left the woods, grabbed my bow and headed to a 3D shoot.

Nice eye candy!
Pic #3 looks like he was a lucky bird. He must have ducked when a hunter shot, and it knocked off his tail feathers. Lol

I bought a new ameristep blind, face mask, and license. Got the calls tuned 870 lubed. Going to southern Ripley county and listen tomorrow morning I'm hunting Ripley county this year. Took the first 12 days off work.

After checking all the cameras I found no turkey pics on them except for the one. I had my hopes up for shooting a tom with my bow out of the Redneck but my camera had been covering the hay field since April 6th and not one turkey to be seen.
I thought maybe I could take my Ameristep one man blind out and set it up where I have pics of the strutters. However, after setting it up in my back yard, opening the rear window, leaving the door open and sitting in multiple configurations there just wasn't enough room to draw and shot. My biggest issue was the upper limb striking the top of the door opening. My arrows were too inconsistent and were not making me feel confident about it.
My work schedule just simply will not allow me to get back out and construct a natural blind to hide me drawing my bow. Although I have cleared out other spots to sit with my bow, the lack of sign and lack of pictures doesn't have me very optimistic about their locations. I will still give it ago with my bow but, may take the ol' Mossberg in case things fall through. At the end of the day, I want to fill my turkey tag.
And who knows, maybe I'll get to hear a bird or two gobbling by the Redneck the next couple of mornings. In that case, I'll sit there. However I had boots on the ground at the farm at 6am Saturday and didn't hear anything.

Gonna start "getting ready" today.
Looks like rain the first two days. Probably be sitting in a blind on the edge of a field where I've killed the last two years. We are not seeing much on the cameras....

Checked the crossbow yesterday and checked zero. Looks good; we won’t be out until Sunday. JDUB talked to the landowner yesterday and he said he’s been seeing birds. I think we’re going to put the ghillie suits on and sit inside the edge of the woods
