I have noticed that every February there is a 3-5 day week/weekend where it gets up to low 60's to 70's. I've been watching this for years. I've noticed if on the 2nd week, spring is early and 3rd week spring is late. Has anyone else notice this weather trend every year? So this year it's the 1st week. Can't remember being 1st week. So my guess there will be a very early spring (short) and very early summer.

I can't say that I have. All I know is that one week ago today mother nature was ninja kicking us in the face with a polar vortex knocking out our power. Last night I lost power (briefly) to a lightening strike.

There does seem to be a warm stretch or two in February every year. And when they arrive we tend to pay for them with a lot of rain, a few storms and a cold spell soon after.
The other thing I've noticed over the last few years is the ridiculous amounts of rain. We moved into a new house in the Summer of 2013. In 2014, I started keeping track of the rainfall we received. In 2014, we were 9 inches above normal. In 2015, it was 20 inches above. In 2016, it was 10 inches. In 2017, it was 10 inches. Last year, it was 31 inches above normal.
All of that extra rain averages out to 16 inches above normal per year or 80 inches above normal.
What's up with that?

It's all sandy ground here, and the rain storms seem to go either North by 25-30 miles or South by 40 or 50 miles. Currently, the pond is down about 3 feet or slightly more. Grass in the summer normally now goes brown and crunchy, even the weeds wither and crunch when you walk on them.

All-time record set in the metro-Louisville area in 2018. I make my living from construction and am a fishing fanatic. 2018 wasn't worth a S*&T for either. 2019 is actually starting out even worse for construction.

I recall going to the indiana boat sport and travel show in shorts as a kid a few times. Also recall not going due to snow storms. That was easily 25 yrs ago.

I can remember many winters as a kid where we would get a sled or skates for Christmas and not be able to use them. White Christmas vs muddy Christmas seem to be about 50/50 in my lifetime. Don't really think this warm spell we are getting right now is anything unusual, pretty typical Indiana winter so far.

I'm just south of town (Walesboro exit) and I didn't see/hear any hail.... I do however need a boat to cross the parking lot to get to some of the other buildings on campus! I might wear my waders or at least my mucks to work tomorrow...will be interesting to see how well that goes over in a corporate environment! I am betting the bridge on southern crossing is closed due to high water - which means taking the long way home....if I can get there!

All three rivers, stream, and creeks are above flood stage or out of banks. Lots of road closed or closing soon. Hope everyone has no issues and safe with all the rain, storms, and flooding.
