That was a dumb thing to do on their behalf.

"Police said Thursday that a preliminary investigation indicated that Hendren had “mishandled” the gun. Police Commissioner John W. Hayden Jr. called it an “accidental discharge of the weapon.”
Really? I don't think playing Russian Roulette would be considered an accidental discharge.

I saw where one news article said alcohol might have been involved. Darwin at work I guess. The articles I read said drugs. Either way it all sounds fishy.

I just get the idea there was a lot more going than three officers playing stupid games. They shooter has been charged.

I read about this and was shocked. How is it a game to have a loaded gun pointed at you, albeit one round in the cylinder, and the trigger pulled. Just plain incredible. I will ditto the Darwin comment....

I will ditto the Darwin comment.... I don't care if it was unloaded, one rule of gun handling is never point a gun at something you don't want to shoot, loaded or not.

My theory, based on zero facts, is that the two on-duty officers (who were neglecting their duties at the time) and the off-duty officer that was shot were engaged in some illegal or immoral activities. They hatched a plan to kill the third officer, likely to silence her. Then they came up with this lame cover story.
Hopefully the investigators put the squeeze on the office that was not the shooter to get the real story instead of sweeping it under the rug. The two on-duty officers have no business ever wearing a badge again.
