This sounded very similar to a .357 maximum, so I checked the specs: .357 maximum Bullet diameter .357 in (9.1 mm) Case length 1.605 in (40.8 mm) Overall length 1.990 in (50.5 mm) 350 Legend bullet diameter is .357 in case length 1.71 in Then I found some pictures and realized this new round is rimless, and it essentially uses a .223 case that isn't necked down. On quite a few different gun and hunting sights. When this came out yesterday, that was the argument that it was a 357 max. I'm not that into rifles to get into some of those discussions but what I took was it's all the same but this round will allow more powder and a larger choice of bullets. Yeah it's basically a .223 bullet. The guys on the .450 forum I'm on were already salivating at the thought of it in an ar platform. Most of them are from Michigan and Iowa which are straight wall only. It's a neat little round, from the data, and be a blast to shoot I'd think.

Don't know what ammo you're looking at but most hunting rounds for the .450 are $1.50 - $2 a round. Wasn't implying that anyone would plink with it. My point I'm trying to make is the cheaper the ammo the more apt you are to put more rounds down range. More rifle time better shooting ability. I'm not taking anything away from the .450. Its a great round but more options can't be bad. I have no doubt I'll end up getting a encore barrel in the .450 but I think this will have a place in my safe too. Don't know what you are looking at either. There are at least 30 quality offerings at less than $1.20 per round. I don't plink with any of my hunting rifles. Prior to each season I check for zero and I am done. I don't need to put scoped hunting rifle ammo down range to make my shooting better. That is a waste of time and money, at least to me. Good. Good for you.

I could see the appeal for this type of round. Will there be enough interest to keep it alive? That's always the million dollar question when a new round comes out.
If it's reasonably priced, guns are available and it performs on game well, who knows?

With the Bushmaster out there I don’t see why if just buying ONE Gun why the 357 would even be considered

With the Bushmaster out there I don’t see why if just buying ONE Gun why the 357 would even be considered I hear you. Since I have a .450 Bushmaster now for public ground, my Savage ML and .243 for private ground, I don't see the need for it. I'd be too worried about having ammo available down the road, but if someone reloads, then it shouldn't be an issue. Like it was for my .17 MachII a few years ago. I'll most likely be getting rid of my 12ga Tar-Hunt slug gun as I have no need for it now.

Encore barrels are available as are ar uppers. As far as I can tell only jacketed rounds are available though.

The FMJ plinker for the .350 Legend is a .355" bullet. Some barrel manufacturers started making .355" barrels to test out the ammo that was sent to them.
I have not seen any measurements on their "hunting" bullets for the Legend even up to this point. However, the drawing that was submitted and accepted by SAAMI specs out a .354-.357" bullet.
Winchester needs to tread lightly here because anything less than a .357" bullet will be illegal to hunt with in most of those "straight-walled allowed" states.
I would also make darn sure that if Winchester was loading the .357" bullets to comply with state regs, that the barrel was not a .355" bore! That would cause increased pressure and likely lots more copper fouling than a proper fitting bullet/bore relationship.
