Channel cats switch diets to eating fish once they reach around 3#. They are very smart too, once caught and released they are very hard to catch again.

So far these still have a taste for chicken livers and my instructions are that none go back in the pond. I have some older neighbors that are going to help me keep the fillets from overflowing the freezer.

Didn’t hit the water until 2 this afternoon to fish. Immediately got on fish and they were all pretty good ones. Ended up keeping 15 good crappie and two channel cats. One of the channels was probably an 8 pounder. Just another great day to be on the water. Adding to our collection for the campground fish fry July 4th weekend. This was also the first time my son went out with us and he had a blast.

Fathers day was pretty fantastic for me. Had great fishing experiences with both kids! Started with a double on sharks, a 40 inch redfish and a ton of time with my kids who normally dont get into outdoor. I will be riding high on that day for a long time!
