Just curious about how high do you normally like to hunt. I like 15-20 ft personally

I only go as high as I need to be able to clear the brush. Usually 15 or so.

I like 18 ft to 25 ft. It all depends on location. On top of ridge then 18 and in valley or low area 25+. I prefer to put stands on top of nolls or ridges. If everything flat 20+

I'm a 25 to 30 foot guy, and I've used antenna towers for years to accomplish it. Unfortunately, this year my body has informed me that the antenna tower rungs are a bigger step than it wants to continue making. I have some 15 foot ladder stands that I use to get into hang-on stands and got a 21 foot ladder this year. I'm watching a local store for their 18 foot ladder stands to go on clearance.
The is no perfect height except what you are comfortable with.

20 is about high enough for me. I've killed more on the ground.

Firstwd how do you get those 30 ft towers up. I have used them for years too. Mine are all about 20 feet though.

The height I go depends on my surroundings. Like if im on a hill or in a little creek area I try to find the height that will allow me to see deer quicker and have shooting lanes that are towards where I believe the deer will come from. Normally that ends up being around 20-35ft Im not to concerned about height since i have a good treestand harness. however i try to go a little lower if its really windy or im on a somewhat thinner tree. dont want to be swaying too much when i take a shot.

Pretty much what everyone else has stated, situation dependent. BUT my pull rope is 25ft long; that's my gauge.

Glad to hear all the different reponses and reasonings. Thats what makes hunting so cool. Whatever you do is okay and each person learns what they like and or works for them there are no wrong answers.

My grandfather prefers a lawn chair but he will take a bucket if he doesnt have a chair. i remember last year id been out for 3 days then on the last day my grandfather sits down maybe 40 yards from my climber within my view so i could help him if he needed it and he in a bright red lawn chair and not even 50 minutes goes by and the next thing I hear is shot right next to me. He got a nice doe about 20 yards into the wood line. He said he had to show me how it was done.

I prefer over 20 for sure but some stands are as low as 12.

Not a fan of heights so all my stands are in that 15-20' range. I try and pick multiple trunk trees or trees close enough together to tuck a stand between them for the extra cover. Usually if I get seen it's my own fault ...

I've hunted on the ground most of my life, usually back against a tree or I'll find a blow down tree and sit with in the top branch offs for more cover and to break up silohette that's how my uncle's and grandpa taught me and Ive taken 4 deer with in 50 yds. My uncle has been invited to several different private properties and with me tagging along I have set in some tree stand, some legit, some scary homemade ones.
I am wanting to change up and get a stand to see if I have an increase of sightings, just not thrilled of how far back I will have to take the stand on public land.

On the ground. Dont like heights or tree stands. Just like picking a certain tree to climb. You got to find the right spot on the ground.
