If you remember I shot a good buck two years ago and the Rage mechanical hit the edge of the shoulder blade. The mechanical did not open. Went in about 3-4 inches. Now I'm using muzzy fixed again and the 10 pt I took Friday went just above and inside the front shoulder and exited out the lower opposite shoulder blade. Bolt when right through the deer and all the bleeding come out the lower bone hole. If it did not go through then the blooding might have been zero or very little. All in the cavity of the deer and who knows how very it would go. The bolt and Rage would have been destroyed. Here is what the blade looks like going through bone. Side view of wavy blade Top view showing a little bent. The bolt is 100% good and a need for only one replacement blade.

I switched to muzzys from shwackers but I haven't had a opportunity to see them work yet. Bought them 3 years ago.

I shoot fixed (G5) on my compound and mechanical (2 blade rage) on my X-bow. I simply got better flight with the mechanical out of my X-bow. I was VERY impressed with the rage on my buck this year... I had tried mechanical style over a decade ago on my compound and was not impressed so switched to fixed and they have worked well for me. I don't try to fix things that are not broken....so to speak.

You can't beat a muzzy. I shot my buck through both shoulders with one. I have only shot one deer with a mechanical broadhead. It was a rage from a crossbow. I saw it hit the deer in the shoulder and got very little penetration. I found the bolt with some meat on the rage and nothing else. I never found more than a couple tiny drops of blood and never found the deer.

I bought my crossbow six years ago along with a three-pack of NAP fixed blades. The NAPs were very economical. I've harvested seven (none this year) with that set up and have not changed a blade or purchased additional broad heads. You do the math.
Also, each deer that I have shot has gone no more than 30 yards. I don't give a crap (go ahead and get mad) what anyone says, but it's all about shot placement.

Great when you see them drop.

All I used during my compound days were Muzzy’s and they never let me down. Unfortunately my Whitetail Hunter 2 and the Black Eagle Executioners don’t like them. Switched to QAD’s and that fixed the issue.

I've killed more than a few deer with both the Muzzy and the Rage...I use the Rage exclusively now. Nothing at all wrong with the Muzzy I just prefer the mechanical.

A headless arrow can kill a deer if the shot placement is right.
You have to shoot what you have confidence in. What it takes for you to build that confidence is bigger question.

Very true I use G5 and have had good luck with each deer I’ve taken and it’s been a lot that I made a good shot on don’t think I’ve had a deer go past 60 yards Now bad shots I’ve walked for miles
