The Indiana Code or Indiana Administrative Code does not state additional obligations after the animal is retrieved and included in your daily bag limit. Once you retrieve the animal, it is considered your property.


IC 14-22-10-7Effort to retrieve crippled or killed wild animals

Sec. 7. A person may not kill or cripple a wild animal without making a reasonable effort to retrieve the animal. After the animal is retrieved the animal must be:

(1) taken into the person's possession, unless the animal is a nuisance wild animal taken with the permission of the owner or tenant of the land in accordance with this article; and

(2) included in the person's daily bag limit, if applicable.
