22 minutes after legal light I hear a shot come from Dad's direction and send him a text asking if that came from the north of him. His response was "no, me". My son and I were hunting together about 500 yards south of dad so I told him to just sit tight and I'd head his way around 9:00 or so. In the next hour Easton and I saw 15 deer including one shooter but it was nearly 200 yards out and just too far for him to shoot. We just watched for a while until it finally turned and followed a doe away from us. About 845 I get a text from Dad saying "shot too soon. Have a giant in front of me". The deer didn't stick around long and was gone by the time Easton and I got down there....dad said it was an 8 and bigger than the one killed last year by a lot and his last year was a 150" 8. Possibly Eleanor?? Anyway...the ugly Axis did a good job and the heartshot buck only ran about 40 yards. (The barrel is well clear of Easton)

Nice buck. Seems like the big one always walks out right after you put one down. Ha.
