What time do you get in the woods for opening day? I get out earlier than normal due to hunting public land. I try to get out early enough for 2 reasons, one to claim my spot and I can let people know where I'm at if they get near me, and the other is so im settled in if people push deer to me if they set up the ridge over from my. Interested in thoughts.

If sunrise it at 7:30, I am in my stand by 5:45. Not super early but enough that if I am the first one there, sometimes seeing another vehicle will cause other hunters to go elsewhere. If I see their flashlights from my stand, I will turn mine on if they are within 200 yards so that maybe they will not come down my way. It has worked so far.

i get to my spot where i park my car around 2-3 hours before first light so that i am always the first one there.Sometimes if i drive to my spot at night ill just sleep in my car since Im 17 and cant get a hotel. I try to be up in my stand an hour or so before first light since my tresstand is a climber it can be a little noisy. i go back a little ways into the woods away from other hunters, but i want I allow time for everything to settle down again. Another benefit to being out so early is that I am always ready for the hunters who arent in the woods for first light to scare deer my way.

Normally at least 39 minutes before legal. Opening day falls on my wife's birthday. If I'm extra nice, she may give me a hall pass for the morning sit. But, I definitely won't push the issue. I am hoping to do a morning and afternoon sit on Friday so hopefully Saturday won't even be necessary.

I will be hunting a small private patch of woods, and will likely be the only hunter.
Plan on getting 15-30 minutes before legal light. It's usually 8 or so before I see much moving there.

Public land opening day normally in parking spot by 530 and ready to hike at 6.
Idk about the public land you hunt but firearms season generally triples in amount of other hunters compared to bow and muzzleloader where I hunt.

I leave early, it takes me 30min to hike back to my spot, less pressure.

I try to get to the farm an hour before legal light. It takes this old fat guy about 30 minutes to get to my tree and locked in my stand. Traditionally this gives me time to watch the parade of headlights going to neighboring properties. I've done the real early thing and it just doesn't help on this piece of ground. We are typically a pass through woods and it takes action in the 3 big chunks of woods that we connect for ours to heat up on opening day. Now, the second day is truly a different story.

I hunt private and i am always in stand in November hour, hour and a half early. That time in darkness is my favorite time to think, reflect on things going on in life. Daylight is game time.

I’m hunting private land that I have had to myself all of bow season. But 3 other guys will be out to hunt for the opener, the landowner told me. I figure I’ll be an hour early in hopes that the deer in the north block of timber come south to me. I’ll try to kill a doe for the landowner who wants some killed.

I'll be in at 6-6:30am. My spot is grassy so I can sneak in quietly.

I used to get in my stand an hour to an hour and a half before legal. Now I go in about 15 minutes before legal. The only difference is now I don't get frozen before daylight like I used to. I haven't really noticed any difference in sightings whether I get there early or late. I will say it is kind of neat to just sit in your stand in the dark for a while and just listen to things around you and to let your eyes play tricks on you.

Probably not as really as normal since I tagged my buck yesterday. Not near as important to me now but I want to keep my streak of opening days going.
