Brown county quit helping with retrievals a good while ago. I actually called the office while dragging my deer today to see if I could quarter them up, but they said they have to be brought in whole. Too bad because quartering them out would have saved me a bunch of time.

A new mountain bike trail has made my normal spot in Versailles easily accessible to others. My brother has been covered up in walkers, my buddy has seen 11 too far to shoot, I have seen squirrels..... I thought they closed the park when the hunts were on Park is closed to all but hunters. The trails allow the hunters easier access back to the pit we hunt.

When you hunt a park your there for one reason and that is to reduce the deer numbers. Congrats to all who harvest a deer under pressured conditions.

Had one run right up my 6 just past legal this morning. If I hadn't seen it, I would have sworn pig by the sounds it was making.

Day two is tough, but we have taken several over the years.
My buddy hunted my hot spot at Potato Creek yesterday. He saw zero deer! Another buddy skunked also, but his dad killed two does and saw a buck.

In Ft Harrison again. Dead today. Found out guys in the spot I planned to hunt yesterday shot a six and a big eight they didn’t recover, then another six later that they did. Going to try and trail for a bit in case they’re findable.

Skunked. Saw one fork or six towards the end but not close enough. Tried to trail a buck another guy wounded yesterday but lost it after an hour or so.

Ended up with a yearling at Fort Harrison. She was bedded and let me walk up on her to less than 20 yards. On the initial recovery I thought something funky happened with my arrow but after I field dressed her I found out that my shot was good but she had been grazed by someone previously. She had a deep gash on the top of her back right behind the front shoulders.

Figured I’d bump this back to the top for the late park hunts starting tomorrow. I’ll be back at brown county hoping for a repeat of two weeks ago.
