I need a range finder for both archery and rifle There's several out there and picking the right one is very confusing. I'd like to stay between $200 and $300 and I won't be shooting over 50 yds. with the crossbow and 400 yds. with the rifle. Angle compensation is a necessary option.. Anybody with any experience please chime in, thanks.

I have a Leica 1600. Already saying discontinued. Got on a great deal at Cabelas for $499. Absolute clearest, cleanest, outstanding piece of equipment I have used. Has so many gizmo options, I give up. Lol. Just point and click.

I have a vectronix plrf15c and a Nikon good to 600yds cant remember the model. The vectronix is way overkill for around here. The Nikon works great for archery has angle compensation and has bullet drop compensator it was pretty reasonably priced

I have a bushnell arc 1000. I've used it for about 6 years now I think. It's got many settings, but easy to use. Will provide the "actual" yardage after adjusting for angle for elevated archery shots. It also has target and hunting settings that will help when trying to range in dense cover. Also, you can save different gun settings in it as well. Here's a link to the newer model. I've only had to put 2 batteries in it over the last 6 years. www.amazon.com/Bushnell-Scout-1000-Laser-Rangefinder/dp/B00BP3XF12

Leupold has been the most consistent for me, and is super nice for the price.
When I was shooting a lot of 3D archery tournaments, the Leupold rangefinders were the only ones that did not have difficulties based on the color of the targets.

For those ranges, an inexpensive Bushnell will probably work fine. Where you see the inexpensive range finders failing is when you are trying to get a range at long distance in poor lighting or with poor contrast. The top end stuff like Leica really shines in these conditions.
