What wireless plan are you on? I`m semi-retired, and want to cut costs anywhere I can. I`m currently with AT&T, and they refuse to cut the cost of my wireless plan any more than it currently is. I`ve been considering going to Straight Talk at Walmart. I haven`t delved into it yet, but just at a glance, it appears to offer a lot for less money than I`m currently spending each month with AT&T.
Anyone here on Straight Talk?

I switched to Total Wireless about 3 months ago. It uses the Verizon network and I pay $100 per month for 4 smartphones and 25Gb of data.
Very happy so far...

Is it true that if the Verizon towers get too busy you are automatically put on the bottom of the list and the speed slows majorly? We would go through 25 gb pretty quick, but I’ve thought about switching.

I too am on total wireless. We have two phones and 15gb of data for $57 before taxes. It is cheaper than straight talk and they both use Verizon towers so you get the same reliability as if you were on Verizon. Month to month payment kept my numbers and couldn't be happier. The phone's can be a little confusing but essentially any phone that is advertised as Verizon 3g 4g LTE can be used. I bought my phones on eBay slightly used for not much money, get your sim card kit at Walmart and you are set. If I'm not mistaken any iPhone that uses a sim card is able to be used on any network so if money is really tight you could get an old 4s or 5 and use that. My uncle was on Verizon so he had a Verizon phone. Online total wireless has a feature to check the phone's gis number or whatever it is and it said he couldn't use that phone. He bought a cheapo to start with total wireless and as soon as he cancelled his plan with Verizon they unlocked his phone and he could use it on total wireless. We are on ST. All you can eat everything for $48 + change per month. 10 Gb each line at LTE speeds and then throttled back until monthly refill.
Can't complain about the service at all. We have two phones using Verizon towers and daughter's phone uses AT&T towers. No problems with any of them.
No, you don't get kicked of the tower. ST paid for the bandwidth and you are free to use the towers just the same as the parent companies.

Are you and your wife both on for the $48.00?

My daughter would have all of our data ate up if we had to share it. This way ours is still high speed and hers gets throttled back.

Ive not been on it long enough to experience anything like that and honestly, while it may be possible, I think the logistics of it happening and actually mattering are kind of slim. They offer 5Gb of additional data for $10 and the data doesnt expire. I bought 20Gb extra to tack on to my plan for our vacation.

I was paying $330 per month thru Verizon for 4 smartphones and 2 "dumbphones" that my mom and dad used. My parents got their own plans and now its just my 4 smartphones for $100 a month with an auto renew option.

I think my issue is I use my phones hot spot to work from home two days a week. Between that and the kids school work and leisure viewing I think I will get more serious about switching once we actually get internet that is worthwhile. Should be next year sometime. I’m tired of paying $240 a month for two smart phones and a flip phone, although it is unlimited data.

How much data do you go through in an average month? You might find it cheaper to just buy additional chunks of 5Gb ....

We average probably around 85 gb or so per month, but I do everything on my phone. Haven’t been hooked to WiFi in a year and a half or so.

That's plenty for us though. Some people require more. She is home most days and uses our WiFi. I just don't use much internet myself.

Unless I missed it I'm surprised no one has mentioned Cricket Wireless which runs on the ATT network. We have 5 phones for $100. I think the best you can get is 4 for $100 now. We put my parents on our plan. Not sure how the phones are as we own our phones. We buy unlocked phones. I have being using Motorola phones that are around $200.
