Interesting read, thanks for sharing. Does IN have a similar stat study?

My grandpa used to tell me about the moon and the rut when I was little. Other than hearing it I never did anything about it. My thinking is that deer need to eat, sleep, and drink no matter the weather conditions. However I do believe knowledge is power so it would be very interesting to see if stats have been done in Indiana.

I was always told that for the most part - the hunters moon (first full moon AFTER the harvest moon) is the "trigger". This year that is 10/24...so we will see. I think local conditions can have a big impact on what we see, but from my personal exp on my place... the rut will essentially run the month of November... It may shift a week or so at times but year-in and year-out, hunt as much as you can in November and it's hard to go wrong. My favorite time is from roughly Halloween thru to the general firearms season. I have seen some really interesting deer behavior in that window...
