What are everyone's plans on time spent out on opening day? I'm considering an all day sit.

I'll be out in Ohio for a reduction program hunt. Probably wont hit Indiana until after we get back from our Wyoming antelope trip.

I finally got all my stands out of the woods today. The crops came out Thursday and Friday and the loggers should be in soon. Sipposed to take about 30 days, I just hope they hurry up.

I'll be in Wyoming. October 1st is elk opener in my unit. Might be hunting pronghorn on the 1st though.

Going to work. But it wouldn't matter if it was a day that I had off. I never go to the woods hardly till the end of October.

Right at the moment the weather man is calling for %60 chance of rain and warm temps near 75, but that's likely to change but if its raining that morning ill be in that stand the moment it quits!

I will be out rain or shine. Probably a morning hunt, a mid-day scout and an afternoon hunt.

I’m gonna be heading out for my final youth season this weekend. Can’t believe it’s been over a decade now since I first went out with my dad. I do have a question though. I’m not that big on calling, I noramlly find my spot and stay there for the day. I was wondering if any of you guys use any calls or rattles etc...

Nope, saving my vacation days for colder weather later in the season.

Nope, saving my vacation days for colder weather later in the season. I’m with you on preferring the colder weather. Yet I’ve never been successful during firearm season or any of the later seasons. I’ve only ever been successful during youth season or beginning of archery. So I figure I’m doing something right, not quite sure what it is yet but it’s right.

If you want to call do it very sparingly. Rattling is not effective until the beginning stages of and through the rut.

I've learned that I hunt my stands too early in the season and by that sweet time of early November, my deer activity is low due to overhunting those stands. My goal this year is to leave them alone as much as possible to increase my chances during pre-rut and rut stages. I'm not a patient man though so we'll see.

In the past I have tended to over-analyze and over-scout one or two main hunting spots. This year I'm trying a different approach with having 5 or 6 potential spots to bounce around to. A few of the setups are going to different for me. I'm going to sit on the ground a little more than I have in seasons past.
