Cause I bought a boat. Floats, doesnt leak and it only cost $75. This opens up a dozen spots that a buddy and I have been eyeing for a few years on public land that we otherwise would never attempt. 10 foot flat bottom V nose. Perfect for what we need.

Make sure to leave room for a deer or two. A friend and I used a 10 footer to get across some backwater one time. It worked great and we both shoe deer that day. However, two guys, two climbers, two packs, etc filled the boat, not to mention pushed the weight limit. We had to make two trips (paddling) and it was exhausting.

We usually prehang sets and just bring in steps. Though we may hang and hunt since the walk will be reduced. If thats the case its my boat and ill just leave him behind. Lol

If you can budget for a trolling motor and a battery...you're set!
