Whether in my climber or my hang on treestand I have found my ideal height is about 10-12ft. Any higher and I get way too nervous and could cause injury to myself. I always wear my harness and have a lifeline attached and have found that height to be more than enough for successful hunting. What do you guys prefer?

I might get 15' and that's it. I seen a guy a few years ago at a park hunt that probably climbed close to 45 or 50 feet.

WHAT!? That is crazy. Heck, 25FT and the tree rocks and I get vertigo.

I find myself getting a little nervous climbing once I get to 17'-18'. I normally push through it when the tree allows. I use a climber predominately so most of the time my height depends on what shooting lanes I have and limbs in the way.

I usually add an extension in my climbing sticks to make them 24 - 25 feet. Stand platform is 20 feet so I can step down into the stand.
All depends on the cover and the canopy on how high to go. Sometimes lower is better.

I am not comfortable under 20 ft I have had some as high as 30 feet. 25 seems to be just right. I noticed that at lower hights(especially with archery)that success was more diffacalt but not impossible. It seamed the deer spotted me in the tree more readily when at lower hights. I practiced archery out of the high stands so I knew how to aim at close shots. Closest shot was 5 yrs from 20 feet up. When gun hunting I like to be up in the clouds too because I can see farther and be ready when a shot presents itself.

I'm scared of heights, so I go no higher than I feel is necessary. I mostly use 15-16' ladder stands, and I've never felt too low in them as long as you restrict your movements and are somewhat brushed in.
I tied about 18' of rope to my climber rail to pull up the bow, rifle, etc., so I can use that to judge how high I am. I'm usualy in the 12-16' range, depending on the situation.

Set stands at either 20 ft or 25 ft per the climbing sticks. Same for the climber.

Too low and you may be seen or smelled. Too high causes challenging shot angles.

I haven't used a climbing stand in a few years, but when I did, my pull up rope was 15 ft. long. that was my measurement for stand height.

Me no likey heights either .... Id say the majority of my stands are 16-18' or so. Lower than that and I feel like I am sticking out too much. The first few climbs of the year are the worst ....

Back in my youth, we used screw in steps and hung our stands 25-30 feet up.
Not anymore....
Today it's 15-17 ft ladder stands, shooting houses (up 5-10 feet) or ground blinds.

15 feet is probably my average. I dont worry about height, i use thermals in my favor.

I average 30 feet. I do have on stand that is 20 feet, but it is on the edge of a 25 foot ridge.
