I'd say pregnant and ready to give birth. Not that uncommon for a doe to be bred in her second cycle which would have her giving birth late June early July. I started seeing 2nd cycle fawns being born last couple days June. There will be some young doe's that will give birth late July and early August but survival rate for those fawns is very low.

Look at it this way. Normal deer pregnancy is 195-200 days so a doe bred Early to mid November will give birth Late May to early June. (MOST this period). Doe's bred during 2nd estrous cycle would then give birth Late June into early July etc.. I saw 3 freshly born fawn's while mowing hay just last week.

Exactly..... nothing abnormal here, happens year after year.

I started seeing 2nd cycle fawns being born last couple days June. There will be some young doe's that will give birth late July and early August but survival rate for those fawns is very low. Why is the survival rate low? Twofold. No.1 - Majority of fawns born to doe's in 3rd estrous cycle are yearling doe's so they lack experience in raising their young. No.2 - These late born fawn's will be much lower in body weight going into fall/winter so fat reserves won't be as high.
