Gauranteed... because I got a snow plow for my truck! Lol. Tired of getting hammered living in the lake effect snow belt. One of 2 neighbors usually helps us out, but this past year they were scarce. I had to hire a friend with his tractor to clean out about 20" dumped on us once. Thats enough!
A work buddy plows for a business and said the owner always has plows laying around after he upgrades. We went and picked out a good Western plow that had a brand new cutting edge. Then, he gave me 3 carriage mounts with 2 pumps, newer lights and hoses, cable joystick, brackets, etc, and said you should have enough to piece something together. All for $250!!! Woohoo!

Congrats. I've thought about getting 1 for my Ranger to make some extra money but can't afford it plus it would be hard on my truck,if I had a F150 4x4 it would be better.

Over the years I owned several trucks with snow plows and one of the things that always aggravated me was that everytime I got a different truck the frame mounts were different and new updated ones were expensive. I ended up trading off my last plow truck and buying a 4X4 tractor to do brush hogging and snow plowing. Yes I have to sit out in the open but at least my neighbors don't bother me for free snow plow work. BTW: please list your 24 hour telephone number for all your good friends here at Hunting Indiana who qualify for the free to Laporte county members only snow plowing service.

The first year I had a plow for my 4 wheeler it never left the garage, which was absolutely perfect.

If you plan to plow enough to make money, you'll need a 3/4 ton heavy duty. A 1/2 ton is fine for occasional use, but plowing is very hard on a truck, especially a standard duty transmission. Also, figure on that truck to start rusting away.

I am a mechanic/welder/fabricator, so I expect to have to make it work. No buying premade brackets for me. With folks and neighbors getting older, the plan is to have a plow truck from here on out. I have always had neighbors do it, but now folks and mil are having to pay for snow removal. A snow blower was on the plan book, but sitting all year with gas is bad on them. Plus being mobile with a truck, and heated cab, sounds to be a wave of the future.

Both neighbors that normally plow for us are out in the elements too. One on a quad and other a Kubota. Our driveway is short, but have an area we like cleaned up. No, they dont charge us. But, neither do I when they want mower blades sharpened, welding repairs, vehicles worked on, etc. I have even loaned one my truck when his was in my garage tore down. Always been a great thing going. I guess that has ended. So, with a total disregard for upholding their ends, they will be finding a new repair guy. Or will be in for a big surprise when they get a bill for last years jobs when they come knocking. I even risked my own life for one guy when we had the Valentines Day blizzard a few years ago on a Saturday. His car got stuck 4mi from home. He called me asking for help. I went out in it, zero visibility at night, to pick him up so he didnt freeze to death. I have a wife and child depending on me, but I did it for him. Oh well, off track now, but thats just how it goes. Rant over.

This will be for our house and a couple driveways. Only going on V6 F150, so no serious plow work like a parking lot. Put her in 4 low, and putt along. Next truck will be the real deal. I have plowed snow at jobs for over 20yrs. Pretty good track record as far as tearing up stuff. Never burnt a tranny, u-joint, etc. Sure cant say that about everybody. Lol

Coming together now. I hung the plow to check how much it squatted. Not much at all. It is a lightweight build since its a half ton V6. So far, very pleased! host images
