My 6 year old driveway is flaking. I have owned the house for 2 years and never use regular rock salt. I do use the driveway heat product which isn't supposed to cause this. I have to use something as it's pretty steep.

I think that is from the road salt coming off your vehicles.

I would google companies in your area that resurface concrete driveways and get an idea of feasibility and cost to take care of your problem.
As far as keeping it from happening again...I would ask them for advice on that as well. I'm sure they would recommend a quality sealer that might help.

Clean it and seal with soy bean oil. It is a penetrating sealer that does not cause a slick surface. There is some damage done, but not enough to justify an overlay.
