I sold my house and closed, but we haven't closed on our new house yet. So here I am, living in someone elses house, freaking out every time an appliance makes a weird noise, or the 4 year old touches pretty much anything. I'm losing my mind. Our buyers were pretty difficult (to the point that on the day of closing I nearly told them the deal was off), and now Income home to dog vomit on the carpet. If my guns weren't all packed away at my moms house, I might have shot him.
This is dumb. Never again.

That has to be nerve-wracking, man I'd be freaking too. I know what it's like to deal with those kind of people. I have a difficult pooch too, and I know that " I'M GONNA KILL THAT FURRY LIL' #$@?&*!!" feeling! I could almost picture the steam coming out of your ears.
Just try to relax as much as possible. You've already made the hard decision, it's all downhill from here! You got this.
Hope the new place works out good for ya!

It is rough living with someone else. I lived with my in laws for 9 months after selling our house and getting ours built. Hopefully time moves quick for ya and you’re in the new place soon enough.

Times like this will make you appreciate the good times even more. It'll be over before you know it.

I've been there done that and didn't like it much either. When we moved back up here from Kentucky we lived with my in-laws for a few months until we found a place and rewired it just enough to move in,I finished rewiring after we moved in.

If my guns weren't all packed away at my moms house, I might have shot him. This is dumb. Never again. I work with customers all of the time who are living with in-laws, out-laws, neighbors, friends, campers, etc. while waiting for their new house to be completed. If there is one piece of advice I can give it is that if your push the builder to get the house done, don't come back a few weeks after moving in and complain about the finishes and quality. I supervise 40-45 new homes every year and have seen it all. I had a customer a few years ago that had his family of five plus two rottweilers living with his parents for almost a year before we even started construction. He came to me one day and said "get the %^$#@!&* paint dry and sweep the floors." They moved in and I never heard a peep except for insight on the occasional new microbrew. On the other hand, I've had more than one that has drug their feet throughout the process and then insisted on getting in. They end up unhappy and being a nuisance. Let your builder do his job and air all of your grievances BEFORE closing. Don't move in and then complain.

The reason for our 9 months was because we switched builders when we felt things weren’t right. We lost some money, but I think money well lost. Our builder that actually did the house was great from start to finish. No major issues during the build. Of course had a few things after we moved in, but I definitely didn’t want them to rush. I wanted it done correctly. Just had an a/c issue today, but it was taken care of under warranty.

In lighter news after a phone interview, written test, in person scenario testing (medical scenarios), I have been invited back for the 4th and final phase of formal interview for a flight medic position.
That's been a fun process throughout all the house stuff as well.
