Do you pattern your gun each year even if nothing has changed, as in shooting same load, scope, and choke? I normally do but until today I only had 2 shells left but finally found some online that should be here in time for me to practice before I go hunting.

I will take one shot. When switched over to TSS I shot several out to 80 to get my patterns down.

Typically just one or two shots to confirm everything is as it should be.

Probably not the best practice but I normally do not. I have a dedicated turkey gun that gets shot once a year if everything goes as planned. Again not good advice but the truth.

Not unless I change shells. I do pattern by shot size and distance if trying new loads.

Not my turkey gun, as long as I haven't changed anything. I shot my crossbow while ago, glad I did.. needed about 4" adjustment at 30 yards.

If i miss, i would be inclined to check my poi with cheap shells. May try to get 400 pellets in a 10" circle at 40 yards with the new $8 shells x1.

I’ll take a few shots before I go out. I’m checking for two things first is that I am making sure my gun is still functioning and the spread is how I like it, and second is that I am still able to shoot straight which is always a helpful thing to be able to do.

TSS did shoot a little high for me but I didn't change anything. That stuff is nasty 2 of the birds I got this year were at 70 and 77yds both dropped stone dead.

Yes, not as much to check pattern (using same shells as last year and same choke) but to verify POI hasn't changed.
Same with the rifles when I travel any distance to hunt. You never know if something loosened up in transport. I'm talking over 100 miles of travel.
